These Tiny Crystals Hold Surprising Power

I wanted to share an awesome story about one of my patients who recently embarked on his first water fast. As you may know, water fasting is a powerful practice that has numerous benefits for the body, including weight loss, improved insulin sensitivity, and even a reduction in the risk of chronic diseases.

However, as with any new practice, there can be some initial discomfort and challenges. My patient, who we'll call John, began to experience symptoms such as lightheadedness, nausea, lethargy and muscle cramps during his fast. Concerned, he called me to ask for my advice.

I advised John to add a pinch of high quality sea salt to his water throughout the day. You see, during a water fast, the body is not only shedding fat and toxins, but it's also shedding vital minerals and electrolytes. And, when these minerals and electrolytes are not replenished, the body can become imbalanced and uncomfortable.

John followed my advice and within an hour, his symptoms began to subside. He was able to continue his fast for a full 48 hours and felt great afterwards. In fact, he reported feeling more energized and clear-headed than ever before!

Replacing electrolytes isn't the only way to feel better during a fast. Bone broths, Bulletproof coffee and fat soups can really help too. You lose out on the autophagy benefits, but can still get a boost to weight loss.

I tell you this story because I believe it highlights the importance of understanding the body's needs and taking the necessary steps to support it. And, that's exactly what I do as a doctor. I help my patients understand their bodies and support them in reaching their health and wellness goals.
