Build a better brain
Brain fog & low mental energy can destroy lives, businesses & relationships.
There are many causes of brain fog and reduced mental energy, but one of the most common is stress and depression.
If you have a major depressive disorder, please get help. But thankfully, this isn’t the case for most people.
Taking the time to show some love for yourself can be very helpful for many people.
Compassion for yourself is just as important as compassion for others. And surprisingly rare.
The 5 love languages don’t just work in relationship to others. They can also help in relationship to yourself.
1) Speak well of yourself
Learn to communicate love, appreciation and respect for yourself.
You have to spend every moment with yourself, so finding ways and reasons to be friends with yourself pays dividends.
What are you proud of yourself for? No matter how small.
What do you appreciate that you do for yourself or others?
Take 5-10 minutes to sit with yourself in meditation or with a journal, think about and discover reasons why you’re doing your best. Why you should be proud of yourself. Why you’re a beautiful human being.
And appreciate yourself for it.
2) Serve yourself
Sometimes you need to serve yourself.
This is especially important if you care for somebody else full time, or if you have young children.
What nice thing can you do for yourself to ease your mind?
Take a nice walk.
Get a proper night’s sleep.
Take some alone time to sit in silence or watch a film.
You are worth that little extra time.
And although it might not feel like it, refusing to take this time now can cost you more time in future.
Give yourself a break.
3) Embody yourself
Being present in your body can remove from the dissociated distraction of brain fog and low mental energy.
There’s a reason that so many meditative practices begin with awareness of your breath or your limbs.
Leaning into breathwork and performing exercise can be meditative experiences in themselves when done correctly.
Take the opportunity to use your body to be truly present with it.
Even something as simple as having a sip of water allows you to be totally present with the sensations as it moves past your lips and into your throat.
You are alive.
Experience it.
4) Spend time with yourself
What makes you happy? Do that.
Ignore those that call you selfish for wanting or needing some time to yourself.
Listen to a favourite song.
Take a road trip by yourself.
Watch something that makes you happy.
You know what works for you.
It’s healthy to spend some desired time alone.
5) Treat yourself
Buy something for yourself:
A trip to the cinema
A book you’ve had your eye on
Dinner at a restaurant you’ve wanted to try
A favourite snack as a reward if you’ve done the work.
Even the smallest thing can provide a little joy.
The key thing here is a to be intentional and aware of reinforcing your self worth and presence. Feeling alive and engaged.
Not to indulge yourself to the detriment of others.
Learning to be present with & trust yourself to prevail will pay dividends.
TL;DR
Treat yourself
Serve yourself
Embody yourself
Speak well of yourself
Spend time with yourself
